Tips & Tricks Tips & Tricks How to hint search engines about pagination?

Search engines are kind of «smart», but they're still computer bots and you know your website better than them so you can help them in the tedious task of indexing your website.

Short answer

You can use rel links to provide a machine readable way of knowing the previous page, the next page or both:

<link rel="prev" href="http://romain.dorgueil.net/stream/?p=1"/>
<link rel="next" href="http://romain.dorgueil.net/stream/?p=3"/>

It is possible to mix prev and/or next rel-ations with a rel="canonical" link.

You can use absolute or relative links in those links.
